Thanks for visiting the GT webpage! My name is Kathy Hall and I am the GT Coordinator for the Pea Ridge School District. In addition to my Coordinator duties, I also teach 3rd-5th and 9-12th grade GT students.
This is my fifth year in the Pea Ridge school district (and in Arkansas) - time really does fly when you're having fun! Having made the transition from Kansas, my husband, Mark, and I are feeling very much at home here in Northwest Arkansas. Our son, Luke, lives and works in Kansas City, but loves having a place to "vacation" and road race here in Arkansas.
I was born and raised in Kansas and graduated from Pittsburg State University with degrees in Music and Political Science (Go'Rillas!) and from Emporia State University with my Master's degree in Gifted Education.
Besides working with gifted and talented students, a few of my favorite things include reading, attending music concerts (especially jazz and blues), watching KU Jayhawk basketball, cooking (and eating), hanging out at the lake and the beach, and traveling. I have been fortunate to see a large portion of the United States as well as Cozumel (MX), Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England. Every few years, I offer trips abroad through EF Tours to my high school students. In the summer of 2018, we are planning a trip to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia!
Being a gifted education teacher for 19 years has been both challenging and rewarding. I've always loved to learn (anything and everything) and I am so fortunate to work with students who keep me on my toes and who teach me something every day. It's certainly never boring and for that, I am eternally grateful! Although I'm rarely in one place throughout the day, I do have an open door policy and I hope you'll feel free to contact me with any questions or thoughts you may have about the GT program (or the website). Email is probably the best way to get in touch with me: [email protected]
