Stakeholder Evaluation Report
Strengths: Results of stakeholder evaluations over the past three years have yielded several strengths of the Pea Ridge Gifted and Talented Program. Teachers, administrators, GT students, and parents were asked to evaluate their observations of various aspects of the program including: community awareness, staff development/personnel, identification, program options, and curriculum. Among the strengths of the program the various stakeholders identified were:
Goals for Continued Improvement: A review of demographic data as well as results from stakeholder surveys has indicated areas for continued improvement within the Gifted and Talented program district-wide. We will focus on the following areas over the next 3-5 years:
Goal 1: Strengthen communication and awareness of gifted and talented issues/events with parents and community members.*
Goal 2: Review the identification process to identify more low-income students and more closely reflect district population.
Goal 3: Develop a Board-approved, district-wide acceleration policy to better serve the academic and social-emotional needs of high-ability students from school entry through high school graduation.
- GT curriculum is appropriately challenging and different from the regular curriculum.
- Many benefits for students in the GT program, including: understanding and acceptance by GT peers and facilitator safe and supportive environment for taking risks and accepting challenges more personal choice opportunities for initiative and self-direction promotion of critical and creative thinking development of positive self-concept
- Good understanding of the process for identification and placement of gifted learners.
- Many opportunities for parent involvement/awareness of GT program events.

- Objective 1: Create and regularly update GT Facebook page(s) as a more efficient means of updating parents.
- Objective 2: Initiate individual parent meetings for newly identified gifted students.
- Objective 3: Increase involvement of Advisory Committee meetings to identify and support needs within the GT program.
Goal 2: Review the identification process to identify more low-income students and more closely reflect district population.
- Objective 1: Review current constructs of giftedness and update to include multi-dimensional characteristics.
- Objective 2: Create or revise teacher, parent, and student nomination forms to reflect cultural and socioeconomic differences.
- Objective 3: Research and review data collection measures to ensure greater equity in identification.
Goal 3: Develop a Board-approved, district-wide acceleration policy to better serve the academic and social-emotional needs of high-ability students from school entry through high school graduation.
High School Pre-AP and AP Enrollment
High school GT students' needs for academic rigor and college preparation are addressed through pre-AP and AP offerings. Pre-AP classes are offered throughout grades 9-12. AP classes are offered for 10th-12th graders. For the current school year (2014-2015), the overwhelming majority of high school GT students have chosen to enroll in either pre-AP and/or AP classes:
- 100% of 9th graders taking 1 or more Pre-AP classes
- 94% 10-12th graders taking 1 or more AP classes
